In this case study, we’ll take you through the transformation of a detached period-style property near Knutsford, showcasing a wonderful example of an in-frame shaker design.

Discovered through Instagram, our team was entrusted with transforming this property with our signature style, following the clients’ search for a premium, handcrafted aesthetic. Their journey had taken them to one of the high-end national brands that specialise in this style, leaving them frustrated with the design and quoting process.

Luckily, we were able to step in. We made some adjustments to the original design to ensure that the proportions were in keeping with the overall space. We also managed to significantly reduce the cost and improve the design & quality of the materials used.

All cabinetry was handmade for this project, including the chimney surround, which was a central feature of the design and a key part of the client’s vision. The doors were produced from solid Maple and finished in Fired Earth’s Malm, a gentle & warm grey which is an ideal hue to create a bright & airy feel, without feeling cold.

The chimney feature was the perfect addition, framing the AGA and emphasising the chimney breast, evoking a sense of grandeur and an instant “wow” factor upon entering the space.

Another feature on their wish list was the inclusion of flat drawer fronts instead of the shaker design, creating a truly personalised kitchen that was exactly what the client wanted.

Symmetry was also key. The client opted for a Belfast sink, which we lined up with the window, complemented by a corner unit and a well-placed pull-out storage cabinet. Furthermore, the inclusion of double doors under the sink added a quintessentially British touch, a nod to traditional features that were instrumental in achieving the overall look.

In this design, we seamlessly blended period influences with modern, practical solutions.

Here, under the compact oven, the dishwasher was installed at a raised height. To achieve this, we custom-designed a cabinet that elevated the appliance off the floor, making the loading and unloading process easier.
